Product Description

Sodium Thiosulphate.Sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula of Na2S2O3·5H2O. It is a colorless monoclinic crystal, odorless, and has a cool and bitter taste. The specific gravity is 1.729, heated to 100 ℃, and 5 crystal water is lost. Soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, with strong reducibility. It is easily weathered in dry air above 33 ℃ and deliquescent in humid air.

Application

Sodium thiosulfate belongs to one of the early strength agents of concrete. Concrete early strength agent refers to the admixture which can improve the early strength of concrete and has no significant effect on the later strength. Sodium thiosulfate added to concrete can promote mortar and concrete early strength, and has a certain plasticizing effect on cement, will not rust reinforcement. The amount of sodium thiosulfate needed to be added to a cubic cube of concrete is about 3%-6%, and the specific amount needs to be calculated according to the amount of concrete cementing material.

Sodium thiosulfate can be used as a bleaching agent for pulp and cotton fabrics.

Sodium thiosulfate is used as a chelating agent and antioxidant in food industry.

Sodium thiosulfate is used as detergent and disinfectant in pharmaceutical industry.

One of the antidotes of cyanide (combined with methemoglobin forming agents for cyanide overdose poisoning) that, with the participation of enzymes, binds to free (or methemoglobin bound) cyanogen ions in the body, resulting in non-toxic thiocyanate excretion and detoxification.
