Sodium hexametaphosphate(SHMP) is an inorganic substance with molecular formula (NaPO3) 6. It is a white powder crystal, or a colorless transparent glass sheet or block solid. Soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents. It has strong hygroscopicity. When exposed to the air, it can gradually absorb water and form a mucilage. It can form soluble complexes with calcium, magnesium and other metal ions. It is widely used in food and industrial fields.
