Application
Calcium chloride is an antifreeze used in the process of road or house construction (construction industry) to protect roads or buildings. The main function of calcium chloride hardening accelerating is to accelerate the hydration rate of cement and promote the development of early strength of concrete. It has both a strong drought function and an enhanced water reduction function.
Industrial uses of calcium chloride:
1, used as a multi-purpose desiccant, such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, and other gases drying. Used as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers, and acrylic resins. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for chillers and ice making, which can accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of building mortar and is an excellent building antifreeze. Used as a port fogging agent and road dust collector, fabric fire retardant. Used as a protective agent and refining agent for aluminum and magnesium metallurgy. Calcium chloride can help speed up the initial setting in concrete, but chloride ions can cause corrosion of steel bars, so calcium chloride cannot be used in reinforced concrete. Anhydrous calcium chloride can provide a certain degree of moisture to concrete because of its hygroscopic properties.
Calcium chloride is also an additive in plastics and fire extinguishers, as a filter aid in wastewater treatment, as an additive in blast furnaces to control the aggregation and adhesion of raw materials to avoid the settlement of the charge, and as a diluent in fabric softeners.
The dissolving and exothermic nature of calcium chloride makes it used in self-heating cans and heating pads.
In the petroleum industry, calcium chloride is used to increase the density of solid-free brine, and can also be added to the aqueous phase of emulsified drilling fluids to inhibit the expansion of clay. It is used as a flux to lower the melting point in the process of producing sodium metal by electrolytic melting of sodium chloride by the Davy process. When ceramics are made, calcium chloride is used as one of the material components, which will allow clay particles to be suspended in the solution, so that the clay particles are easier to use when grouting.
